In early May, just before “May the Fourth,” science fiction and nonfiction short films were shared as part of the Sci-On! Film Festival, which takes place every year in early May at the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center. One of the nonfiction short films, “Frosty Formulations” came with a visit from the filmmaker and the star of the short film to present a Discover Science lecture.
“The Ice Cream Scientist” Maya Warren and filmmaker Page Buono shared how to effectively communicate science with audiences from all backgrounds, and in their film “Frosty Formulations,” they showed how to do that with ice cream.
Hitchcock Project for Visualizing Science student Katrina Perce interviewed the speakers for the Discover Science podcast, now available on Spotify or by the link below. The podcast episode, short animation teaser and more content can be found on the StoryMap Perce created.
